Share The Love

A little more than two years ago, I began to use art as a way to deal with anxiety and processing my feelings. This was a huge step for me, especially because I was teased as a child about my visual art skills.🎨

Mind you, the teasing usually came from other children, not from adults or people in power. Whatever the source, the criticism cut me deeply, causing me to bury my desire to draw and paint beneath the scars.😭

By contrast, I love words and have almost always received compliments on my essays and stories. Putting them on the page has always come naturally, as has sharing them.✨️

So it's no surprise that the first pieces of art I did involved using my written words in the art. In fact, I still do that.

What IS surprising to me is how much one of my very first visual art pieces mirrors a painting I recently submitted to an exhibition. Can you see the resemblance?😲

I did not draw the chicken. It is a sticker. However, the words around it are mine and reflect a moment of word-based healing related to a very sad looking chicken I made for an assignment long ago.🐔

You can read the whole message if you zoom in close enough, but here are my favorite parts:

"Looked at in a new way, a chicken looks like a walking heart."

"Chickens are also friends with ducks, which I love. So as a duck lover, I am by association friends with chickens..."🐔🐥

Then I looked up and wrote the word for chicken in 26 languages. The heart in LOVE is Our Language is surrounded by the word LOVE in over 100 languages.❤️

Ummm, I think I have a pattern.🤣

As of now, I don't currently have a plan to make other chicken art. However The LOVE is Our Language painting - and 3 other similar pieces - became a design for my clothing and other accessories.🔥

More than that, it's become an outward expression of my desire to be the LOVE I want to see in the world and to share it with everyone I meet.❤️

Thanks for giving me a place to share the LOVE...and my chicken art! 🩷
