A: Dear Curious -
When I first heard about massage memberships some years ago, I really didn't know what to make of the concept at first. The idea of offering what I saw at the time - rock bottom prices for massage and/or spa services for people who committed to monthly sessions seemed like a quick way to go broke.
However, I’ve had many years of observation, education, and contemplation about a variety of different membership options. I also had a wonderful experience with adding a membership program in my last spa. Thus, I've concluded that there is room in the marketplace for lots of different business models and promotions. And in a changing economy such as the one we are currently experiencing, it is vital for every business to keep their clients happy and returning regularly in order to keep cash flow rolling.
So, is a membership option right for your practice? Possibly. I'd begin by looking around your area to see what others are offering. You’ll also need to evaluate your current pricing and ensure whatever offer you make is one you can afford. Let me know if you need some help getting it all figured out!
