Be Your FUTURE Self

Have you ever considered what your life could be like if you were living as the future and best version of yourself today? You know the one who already got the new job, lost the weight, felt confident about their abilities? The one who got over their issues, stopped procrastinating, and knew how to scuba dive.

Seriously, if you already possessed the qualities, circumstances and abilities that you currently aspire to have, what would you do differently?
Maybe you'd walk, talk and act with greater confidence and purpose.
Perhaps you'd say yes to an opportunity you don't feel ready for!
Or you'd start treating yourself with a new level of respect, honor and trust.
Yesterday, when I was having "a moment," I paused to think about my highest/best self - let's call her Felicia Be - and how she might respond versus the turmoil I was experiencing. Rather than digging into the negative emotions I felt and staying stuck there, Felicia Be's response was something along the lines of "Let's put on a fun song, dance around the kitchen, and make today an awesome day!" That sounded like good advice, so that's exactly what I/we did!
There've also been other more material examples:
I recently accepted the opportunity to write for De Beauty Professional, a Dutch magazine for massage, sin care and other beauty professionals. My first column wil come out in a few weeks. It will be in Dutch (translated obviously) but I'll share it here after it is published. You can also read my recent interview with them here.
After I posted and sent out last week's blog, I bravely reached out to a local curator and was immediately accepted for a location where I'd been hoping to exhibit. I'd previously gone by there at least 3-4 times to inquire and then failed to do so.
See my last post Dare to Decide for a few others.
I also decided to get over my fear of video editing and try an app a friend recommended. It made the editing process SO much easier and I'm finally (and quite painlessly) sharing some of my art processes on social media. Here's one of the videos:
Art and social media might not be your thing. However, the concept of living life like your higher or future self would is a concept which can be applied to any area of your life - money, diet and exercise, self talk, relationships, you name it. In fact, I find myself asking what my best self would do in all kinds of situations.
Example: Not long ago, I was feeling a little irritated with a friend after what I perceived to be an insensitive comment. Feeling a famiiar wave of emotions arise, I wondered what Felicia Be would do.
Turns out she would take a pause before speaking, do some deep breathing, and ask what kind of outcome she'd like from the experience. In the end, she and I decided we could let the comment pass without indicent and enjoyed the rest of evening totally unbothered.

I'm not sure where Felicia Be will guide me next, but I'm having fun walking in her shoes. If you want to keep up with where she's taking me on a regular basis, I invite you to connect with me in all the places!
