Follow The Energy

In my last newsletter, I shared a bit about how I’ve used art as a vehicle to step into a higher, truer version of myself. When I first started, the adult (and kids) coloring books and sketch pads I spent evenings filling up were simply a welcome distraction from the stress and anxieties of life.

In part, I was also trying to make friends with the wounded child whose art projects had been a cause of embarrassment, shame, and teasing. I wanted to help her overcome her fears of not being good enough and show her that she was safe to doodle, draw, and paint just for fun.

What I noticed over time is that putting pretty colors on paper was more than a distraction or exercise to heal past hurts. In fact, my paints and markers became like magical potions and wands laced with the power to elevate my mood and transform my energy in the present. Wow!

Soon that energy began rising on its own, leading me to harness my creativity for a different kind of purpose: to share love and healing energy with the world. In truth, this is what most of my professional life has been about. First it was through doing massage and mentoring other therapists through writing and teaching. That transformed into owning spas, mentoring team members, and doing coaching. Eventually, I began to write books, speak at bigger venues, do podcasts and interviews with other industry leaders, and more.

I don’t currently own a brick-and-mortar spa, and rarely do hands-on sessions. But today - on the 31st anniversary of beginning my massage career - I am “painting” a new path which blends my passion and experience in the healing arts with original visual art. It is thrilling to share this beautiful flow of love, healing, and positive energy with you and the world!

And you know what? It feels really good. I think you can see just how much in this picture.  The print I’m holding is "Love Needs No Translation." It’s the very first piece of art I have ever submitted for consideration to be in an exhibition! 

The Embracing Our Differences exhibition will be next year in Sarasota and St. Pete, FL. (Learn more here.) While I plan to submit three other pieces, this design fills my heart and will always be special to me.

Though prints aren’t ready just yet, men’s and women’s t-shirts featuring the design ARE available on my website. I have a really fun vision in my head of going to the exhibition to see my art - wearing my LNNT T-shirt, of course - and bumping into someone else wearing it. 😀

It was a big surprise that art called forth my energy and awakened me to a new part of myself. I am grateful for a new modality that inspires me to live in my authenticity and find new ways to share my passion for helping others.

You may not yet know what will spark your energy or speak to your spirit. It’s up to you to figure that out. My challenge for you is to seek it out and follow it wherever it takes you.

If my experience is any indicator, once you get even a tiny taste of the connection to the true you, you’ll want more. You may not yet know what will spark your energy or speak to your spirit. It’s up to you to figure that out. It may take some dreaming, digging, and maybe even some drawing! My challenge to you is to seek out what sparks your passion and follow the energy wherever it takes you. The joy you’ll feel when you discover or reconnect with your best YOU is totally worth investing in - and so are you.❤️
