Investing In Myself is a (Re)Treat

ree

I love doing abstract, free form pieces. With these, the only real plan I had was the colors and to do some swoopy swirls similar to the Blue & Gold series (original paintings available for purchase here) I painted recently. Some might think that for a perfectionist like me, having no plan would be stressful. However, giving myself a place to allow whatever wisdom and insights come is like a restful retreat for my brain.

One lesson I've learning from art is that in the midst of a piece, I often don't like the way what I'm doing looks. I'm excited about the idea at the beginning, frustrated in the middle, and then generally happy with the end product. And if I'm not happy, then it's not done.

Another lesson is how much better the results are when I follow my energy, heart, and creative pulls rather than trying to create pieces others will like. This is sometimes a challenge because I want people to like my work and what I create.

But just like in life, with my creative work especially, it's most important to me that I'm satisfied with the journey and result of how I spend my time. Because at the end of the day, I live with myself 100 percent of the time, and everyone else just a fraction of that. I'm grateful I've figured out how to say yes to myself much more than I used to.

What about you? Are you spending your time and energy doing what you love and connecting to your passions? Or are you where I once was, investing more in others' happiness and desires than your own? I continually ask these questions of myself as I ponder what I want to invest my energy in.

Of late, I've gotten a lot of signs to offer retreats. My vision is to help others (re)connect to who they are; (re)discover what they love and desire; and to (re)create an abundant life and/or business that is satisfying, joyful, and happy.

To that end, I am planning several "day-treats" and longer getaways in 2026. I am still working on exact dates and locations, but the first ones will be within a 1-2 hour drive of Orlando, Florida, and/or Greensboro, NC. (Note: if you'd like to host a "day-treat" for your company or group at your location, click here to initiate a conversation.)
